Second Annual Dog Walk & Festival to Benefit Future Dog Park

The Smithfield Dog Park Committee announces its second annual dog walk and festival taking place on Oct. 15. Dog lovers are invited to bring their pups for a fall walk that starts and ends at the Smithfield High School.

North Paws Veterinary Center, The Last Resort, Fidelity Investments, Amica Mutual Insurance Company, Route 5 Auto, and the The Smithfield Times are the lead sponsors for this event, which is expected to draw more than 100 furry friends.

Building on the success of last year, new additions to the event are a prize for best dog Halloween costume, a doggy photo booth, new raffle items and fall food favorites that include apple cider and cider donuts. Many local vendors will be on hand to sell both dog and non-dog related goods and products, and local dog trainers, doggy daycares and local groomers will participate.

Registration is $20 per family and includes a bandana for each dog as well as a great “doggie bag” for the first 100 registrants. Registration on site begins at the high school at 9 a.m. at which time the vendor festival will kick-off. The walk begins at 10 a.m.

Online registration prior to the walk is encouraged at http://smithfieldri.com/dog-park-walk/. Learn more by visiting the group’s Facebook page or email smithfielddogpark@gmail.com. The committee also welcomes donations and is currently accepting new vendors, and encourages local businesses to sponsor and/or donate raffle items. All checks can be made out to “Smithfield Dog Park Fund” and sent to Smithfield Town Hall, 64 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917.
